With ingenuity and determination, JD grew his business. Farmers and ranchers quickly realized the usefulness of his inventions, leading to the Rural Electric Association granting permission for salesmen to climb utility poles to demonstrate welders. This increased exposure helped expand JD's business, leading to a product variety including battery chargers, welding supplies, and more. By 1943, Forney Industries had over 1,400 products from 150 outside suppliers.

Today, Forney offers thousands of metalworking products in four categories: welding, abrasives, personal protective equipment, and shop tools. JD Forney's grandson, Steve Anderson, is now the President and CEO, dedicated to his customers' success, continuing the legacy started by his grandfather. One day, JD's great grandson, Dane Anderson, will lead the company, keeping the legacy strong for four generations. Despite changes over 87 years, the foundation of Forney Industries remains unchanged. "Welding in America" isn't just a slogan, it's the core of the company.
